3-in-1 cheque scanner improves customer service - Epson Press

3-in-1 cheque scanner improves customer service

Drawing on its expertise in supplying products to the financial services sector, Epson announces the TM-S9000MJ: the first true all-in-one cheque scanner/printer and receipt printer. For financial institutions striving to increase customer satisfaction, the TM-S9000MJ will help realise this goal, while saving money, time and space at the transaction counter.

The TM-S9000MJ is designed to be truly integrated, combining double-sided colour scanning, endorsement inkjet printing and thermal receipt printing into one compact device. In addition to streamlining processing, this 3-in-1 format offers better economy than multiple devices by using less energy, reducing servicing and support costs, and removing the need to keep back-up stock of separate scanners and printers.

TM-S9000MJ sets new standards in speed and accuracy. Cheques can be scanned at speeds of up to 200 documents per minute, with automatic skew correction and background noise filtering ensuring scans are straight and legible. Photo ID cards and cut sheets can also be scanned quickly and precisely, and efficiency is further boosted with an outstanding MICR recognition accuracy of at least 99.9 percent.

Designed to help financial institutions improve customer service, the TM-S9000MJ has a very wide endorsement printing area of up to 16 lines. This allows all the necessary information to be printed for endorsement, and also enables cashiers to print cheques at the counter instead of in the back office, saving time and improving security by carrying out all processing in front of the customer.

Laura Buehler, product manager at Epson Europe, says: “In addition to utilising Epson’s heritage in scanning and inkjet printing, the TM-S900MJ also draws on our thermal printing expertise as Europe’s number one point of sale printer manufacturer . The TM-S9000MJ can print greyscale thermal receipts at up to 300mm/sec while reducing paper usage by up to 30 percent. This 'paper save' feature works by printing the top of the next receipt before cutting the current one, and by reducing the line spacing without altering the content.”

Any operator can use the TM-S9000MJ without training – opening the paper paths is intuitive, as is replacing paper or the long-lasting ink cartridge. An LED indicates ink level status, helping avoid problems caused by illegible printouts.

The Epson TM-S9000MJ will be available from 1 June 2012.
