What’s the worst thing to run out of?
By Epson Blog Team
Every time it happens you tell yourself that next time will be different. You’ll plan ahead and make sure you never run out of whatever it is that you are sadly missing. So what’s top of your list? Is it petrol, your phone battery or your printer running out of ink? We understand your frustration - here’s our list of the worst things to run out of:
1. Caffeine
Unless you’re one of those lucky people that naturally jumps out of bed, mornings are generally a challenge. While you’re gradually trying to adjust to your surroundings and ready yourself for the day ahead, any kind of set back is truly unwelcome. So could there be anything more upsetting in the morning than reaching for the tea or coffee canister and finding you’ve run out? This has got to be up there with the worst things to run out of.
Top tip: it might seem mean, but keep a secret stash. You can always share yours if you’re feeling generous.
2. Phone
Now hopefully this will be a thing of the past in the not too distant future, but currently, anything that impacts your phone, whether it’s low battery or running out of data, can quickly send a sane person into a fit of fury. We’ve become so dependent on our phones that we can forget to make even the most basic of arrangements ahead of time. You could be trying to meet up with a business colleague and suddenly your phone goes – what do you do? Disaster!
Top tip: carry a booster battery pack so you can charge up on the go. Plus, if you regularly run out of data, try speaking to your provider to see if you can negotiate a better deal that will up your data.
3. Ink
You’ve got your bags packed and you’re all ready to go to the airport and catch a flight. But disaster strikes – you go to print your boarding pass and you realise it’s run out of ink. Or perhaps you’ve just finished a big report for a client that you’re about to visit and you go to print and it’s out of ink. Could there be anything more distressing? This has got to be a contender for one of the most frustrating things to run out of.
Top tip: make sure you never run out of ink again - invest in our EcoTank printer that comes with high yield inks that can keep you printing for up to two years1.
4. Petrol
That little light comes on next to your petrol gauge and you note to yourself to stop at the next petrol station. You watch the road signs come and go, but motorway exit after exit, there’s no sign for a petrol station. And slowly, the dread creeps in and you think - what if? What if today I actually run out of petrol? Now fortunately most of us make it to the petrol station, but if you’re one of the unlucky few that doesn’t, our thoughts are with you as you wait for a recovery vehicle to come and rescue you.
Top tip: when you’re setting out on a long journey, check out your petrol station options ahead of time and plan regular breaks so that you can rest and top up your car.
5. Toothpaste
Running out of toothpaste is terrible as there’s just no substitute. Even if you have mouthwash or mints, you can’t get that squeaky-clean, just-polished feel that you get with toothpaste. And then there’s the paranoia that other people might notice. You don’t want to be that person in the elevator, on the train or in the meeting with bad breath – what if that’s how they remember you from now on?
Top tip: it’s all about the back-up – as they’re so small, there’s no reason why you can’t keep a spare tube so that you’ll never be caught out again.
Make sure you never run out of ink again with our EcoTank. It comes with enough ink to print up to 11,000 pages2, meaning you’ll always be ready to print. Find out more about the EcoTank here .
