Calumet joins Epson and aspect2i to host new workshop

Calumet has teamed up with Epson Print Academy and photography workshop specialist, aspect2i, to host a brand new series of exclusive photo-workshops at key branches next year.

The day-long courses, which will include both capture, post processing and print techniques, start at Calumet’s flagship store in Euston on March 2.

Michael Pilkington, a founding partner at aspect2i- said: “This is an exciting joint initiative which helps photographers, both amateur and professional, develop their core skills. Aspect2i aims to offer a wide range of class-based workshops throughout the country - and this programme, starting with 15 events through 2012, brings the Epson Print Academy scheme to key Calumet stores.”

He added: “These dynamic workshops, hosted by well-known professionals such as Sue Bishop, Mike McNamee, John Humphrey, Andrew Williams, Trevor Waldron and Paul Gallagher, are tailored to enable photographers to master various disciplines . When it comes to output we believe that too many images stay on a screen or a hard drive. However, we would still argue that photography is about the excitement of creating an outstanding and high quality print.”

“We are delighted to be working with both Calumet and aspect2i on a project that allows us to help develop photography skills throughout the UK. The goal of the Epson Print Academy is to provide both an educational and inspirational forum for photo enthusiasts and working pros alike to interact with some of the most knowledgeable professionals in the field,” said Nick White, Epson UK. “Print Academy attendees receive instruction and insight into how they can get the most out of the latest digital imaging workflow tools to dramatically advance their printmaking skills. The collaboration with Calumet will allow us to extend the opportunity for photographers at all levels around the UK to enhance their skills.”

Sian Hamer, Calumet marketing executive said: “We are delighted to be working with the Epson Print Academy and aspect2i on this project. The first workshop in March will be ‘The Perfect Black & White Print’ with Paul Gallagher. Follow-up seminars, initially in London and Manchester, will include the following topics: ‘Creating Photos with impact’; ‘Essentials of travel photography’, ‘Understanding Lightroom’; ‘Off camera flash in the field; ‘Getting the most from your DSLR’; ‘Making exhibition quality prints’; ‘Photoshop essentials’ and ‘Close- up and macro photography.’ The courses will cost just £85 for the day, including VAT, lunch and refreshments.”
